Would You Prefer A New Bath or Shower?

Posted on March 26th, 2019 Categories Bathrooms

We all have our own preferences, especially when it comes to getting yourself clean. But there are some questions you should ask yourself first.

There are several pros and con of using either, but we want to look at the various health benefits that each have. So…

Which is better for your skin?

Although you would think that soaking in a bath would reach more places, dermatologist Lauren Ploch would choose a shower.

This is because prolonged time in the bath can in fact lead to drier skin, through excessive scrubbing. Though there is no evidence to suggest that they make you any more or less clean.

Which is better for cleaning the skin?

As we’ve already touched on, there is nothing definitive to say that either are better or worse.

The only difference between the two is left over soapy suds from the bath. To combat this, Professor Emma Guttman-Yassky suggests to rinse yourself off with fresh water.

Which is better for your mood?

Many of us will have a long hot soak in the bath to wash our worries away. But it’s not the bath that’s improving your mood, it’s the water. Believe it or not, hot water can help to reduce loneliness.

You could also argue that a bath allows you to stop for longer, in silence, with a book surrounded by candles. All of which can help to improve your mood.

Which is more cost effective?

In terms of water consumption, short showers win. This is based on a 10 minute shower, any longer than 15-20 minutes and it would be a win for the bath.

In terms of life span, both will last up to 15 years with proper care. However, more care needs to be taken with shower cubicles as they have more elements to them.

Which should you choose?

At the end of the day, you know your own body. You’ll already have a preference in mind, but do take the time to think about the benefits of both.

If you want to be kinder to your wallet and the environment, we’d recommend short showers. However, if you’re looking to improve your mental health then we would recommend a long hot soak in the bath.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Denis and the team were incredibly helpful through the whole process of our kitchen refurbishment. From the initial discussions and call out with Denis, his particular eye for design came through and he made some great suggestions for opening up the space in terms of removing the chimney breast and partitioning out existing pantry which have transformed our kitchen area. Denis was there every step of the way, coming in an checking on the trades, liaising with them while we weren't in the property and project managing it to a very high standard.

The team they used were equally as thoughtful, providing great suggestions and design, with the new flooring throughout the downstairs, it feels like we live in a different house. We would highly recommend By Design to design and spec your kitchen.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our son & daughter-in-law suggested we contact Denis at By Design for our new kitchen, after their successful installation 3 years ago. We are pleased we did, as we are delighted with the result. German manufacture, with lots of neat innovations to make best use of our fairly limited space, and which didn’t stretch our budget. Denis has a wealth of knowledge, guiding us through the design process to a quality kitchen. We are pleased to recommend By Design. Mary & Martin South Cambridge.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. By Design recently designed, supplied and installed our new bathroom. Throughout the entire process, the service we received couldn't have been better. The main reason we chose By Design was the fantastic support we received from Denis. He was with us every step of the way, from exploring various design options to regularly checking in on the fitting progress.

The team responsible for the fitting was extremely courteous and consistently went out of their way to ensure everything was being carried out as expected. They also made a special effort to minimize any disruption to our daily routines.

Thank you for providing such excellent service and for making our bathroom renovation a smooth and pleasant experience.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I'm thrilled with our new bathroom from By Design. The entire experience from the initial design through to completion was excellent. It was so reassuring having Denis managing the project. He'd stop in most days to make sure everything was on track and up to his high standards and to deal with any small issues that cropped up. All of the contractors they worked with were also excellent. The entire project ran smoothly and on time. And the finished room is beautiful! Just what we wanted. We'd definitely use By Design again.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Completely superb job on our bathroom, accomplished in spite of a number of hesitations and changes of mind on our part. Please would you compliment and thank both your own staff and also your various subcontractors? They were thoroughly professional, expert and speedy: and they were also extraordinarily courteous, considerate and careful in their work. Completely beyond our expectations.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. An amazing customer service with the most varied collection in a relative small area.
They offered much lower prices than Cambridge worktops. Would highly recommend.
